CULTURE & LITERATURE ARTIFACTS
ITALIAN CINEMA
I wrote this paper for a French cinema course I took while studying abroad, and it was a good opportunity to look at how my French writing skills improved and were affected after being in that immersive environment. This assignment’s purpose was to use knowledge from my history of cinema course and analyze how the implementation of cinema affected society throughout history. During the process of writing this paper, I was able to continue to develop and hone my French grammatical skills. I was also able to practice taking content that was learned in class and researching and relating that content to society. While doing research for this paper, I found that the creation and development of cinema affected society’s attitudes in many ways, some including society’s mental health attitudes while in the midst of war and depression. Writing this paper allowed me to not only reflect on what I learned from my course throughout the semester, but I was also able to connect my own interest in public health and link cinema development with improvement of mental health in society.
FRENCH CIVILIZATION
This project was created by myself and two other group members, where we created a virtual museum that focused on the history of the Carolingian Dynasty. We had three sub themes that talked about the kings of the Carolingian Dynasty, the public policy under the ruling of the Carolingian dynasty, and common architecture themes during the Carolingian dynasty. I personally focused on the subtheme of public policy and conducted research on specific policies in place under the Carolingian Kings. For this project, we found artifacts to include in our museum, and we explained the purpose of these artifacts and how they related to our subthemes. I chose to focus on the public policy subtheme because I was personally interested in what policies were made by the Carolingian Dynasty that are still in some ways practiced in today's society. The Carolingian Dynasty ruled in Central and Western Europe between the eighth and ninth centuries, so it was fascinating to research and learn about how policies made hundreds of years ago continue to have relevance in current policy implementations.
